Our instructors aim to make learning dog training as simple as possible, so that dog caregivers can apply our principles to everyday life. Whether training basic obedience, or resolving behavior problems, we focus on teaching people to work with their dogs, helping dogs to respond to their owners, not just to the instructor. We strongly feel that dog training has to be humane, based on the psychology of how animals learn and enjoyable for both the dog and the owner. We don't believe in the use of choke chains, electronic, (shock) collars, constant leash corrections or hitting the dogs. Humane dog training is about teaching dogs new and alternative behaviors in a way that is neither threatening to the animal or does not undermine the relationship between dogs and their owners. We want the owners of the dogs to feel comfortable with our methods of dog training, and able to apply these methods on their own. Through our combined 8 years of shelter and professional dog training experience, we know that positive reinforcement-based training is the most effective and rewarding way for dogs and their people to learn. Working for several years at two of NYC largest animal shelters (ASPCA & AC&C) has been an incredible experience for us. Working with shelter dogs has taught us a tremendous amount about dog training and behavior. Over the years, we have encountered a great variety of dogs and learned how to resolve vastly different behavioral problems. Shelter work has given us a unique opportunity to work with and learn from some of the country's leading applied/certified animal behaviorists as well as several amazing dog trainers. We are serious about your dogs training and welfare.
